Moscow is ready to exchange with the United States information received through them about the situation "on the ground" in Afghanistan
Moscow. July 21. INTERFAX-Russia has not offered the United States to use its bases in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in the context of the situation in Afghanistan, but is ready to exchange data received through them about what is happening "on the ground" in this country, received through its military bases in the region, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told Interfax on Wednesday.
"How can we invite Americans to the bases that are part of the collective response forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization? Unlike the example we just discussed, when one party decides for 28, we behave in accordance with our obligations. We cannot invite to the base, which is part of the CSTO forces, without the knowledge of our allies," Lavrov said.
At the same time, the minister noted that Moscow "as part of the continuation of our contacts on Afghanistan in the format of the Russia-China-USA troika, the expanded troika, to which Pakistan is joining, and in other formats, is ready to help calm the situation and exchange information about the real state of affairs" on the ground "in Afghanistan."
"The information that we receive through our bases is also available to our allies, and they are directly involved in the negotiation processes. This information can be useful for all those who want to really help reconciliation "on the ground," the Russian Foreign Minister noted.
"So far, no one has achieved such a reconciliation. The political negotiations actively sponsored by the Americans did not yield results. They will continue, as I understand it. This is already good. To cooperate-yes, to exchange information-yes, but no more, " Lavrov stressed.
The Kommersant newspaper earlier reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin during the summit in Geneva proposed to American President Joe Biden to coordinate actions in the Afghan direction. In particular, the President of the Russian Federation proposed to use Russian military bases in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
