To prepare for participation in the joint strategic exercise of the Armed Forces of Russia and Belarus "West-2021" on Wednesday, July 21, the first military echelons with Russian servicemen and equipment arrive in the Republic of Belarus. This became known from the information of the military department in Minsk.
As the SOYUZ has already reported, the idea of the upcoming joint exercises is based on one of the possible options for the escalation of the military-political situation against a conditional state. During the exercise, the issues of the use of joint assault groups in urban conditions will also be worked out. It is also planned to evaluate the effectiveness of new and modernized weapons. All this, according to experts, is for the sake of "strengthening the military security of the Union State."
By the way, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, whose statement is referred to by TASS, has already announced at the plenary session of the public council under the Ministry of Defense plans to hold a series of preparatory exercises that will precede these large-scale strategic command and staff maneuvers.
Earlier, the Russian armed Forces, according to him, underwent sudden combat readiness checks, and expressed bewilderment that they "scared the Western neighbors", although they were carried out according to the plan and "in accordance with international agreements," the Russian minister stated, adding that a large number of combat training events are planned for the end of the year in addition to the "West - 2021".
