"Glonass-K2 will be ready this year with the possibility of launching at the beginning of next year," the agency interlocutor said.
Glonass-K2 is a new generation of GLONASS navigation satellites. In April of this year, the general director of the company "Information Satellite Systems named after M. F. Reshetnev" Nikolay Testoyedov told TASS that the launch of the Glonass-K2 device is scheduled for the IV quarter of 2021.
In October last year, the general designer of the GLONASS system, Sergey Karutin, said in an interview with TASS that the new Glonass-K2 spacecraft will provide navigation accuracy of less than 30 cm. In turn, Testoedov in an interview with TASS reported that the launch of the new Glonass-K2 navigation satellite was postponed from 2020 to 2021.
