The American government supported the purchase of Russian RD-181M engines manufactured by NPO Energomash. This was announced on July 20 in his Telegram channel by the head of the press service of Roscosmos, Vladimir Ustimenko.
According to him, we are talking about a permit to export the RD-18M engine to the United States.
"This means that there will be new deliveries of engines and new launches of American missiles with Russian hearts," he added.
As Ustimenko noted, the contract for the purchase of Russian engines is not only a confirmation of the excellent work of designers and engineers who create products of excellent quality, but also gives hope for a possible normalization of relations. In them, efficiency and business will be more important than solutions that are not related to space.
"In the meantime, we can only wish success to the NGO Energomash, which creates such amazing" works of motor art, " Ustimenko concluded.
Earlier in July, the Russian government supported negotiations on the conclusion of a contract for the supply of Russian RD-181M engines to the American company Orbital Sciences Corporation.
In April, it was reported that the last batch of RD-180 rocket engines under the current contract will be sent to the United States this year. At the same time, the head of the US Air Force Space Command, General John Raymond, assured that Washington would stop purchasing the RD-180 after 2022.
In February, it became known that, according to consultants of the American Congress, the United States will not be able to find an alternative to the RD-180 until at least 2030.
In 2015, due to the aggravation of political relations between Moscow and Washington, the US Congress banned the purchase of RD-180. After a while, he canceled the restrictions, explaining this decision by the fact that the United States could not find a replacement for them.
