NEW YORK, July 20. /TASS/. SpaceX conducted static tests of the engines of the Super Heavy launch vehicle on Monday, which is expected to launch the Starship spacecraft into low-Earth orbit for further flight to Mars.
"The first static test of the accelerator on Super Heavy," the company's press service wrote on Twitter.
According to the online publication Space.com at the company's test site in the Boca Chica area (Texas), SpaceX specialists performed a short-term ignition of three Raptor engines, the entire test took only a few seconds.
The reusable Starship spacecraft is designed for flights to Mars and is designed for 100 people. The founder of SpaceX, Elon Musk, previously said that the first test flight in low-Earth orbit is likely to take place this year. He admitted that these plans may be revised.
