Washington. July 16. INTERFAX-There is no question of sending the US military to Haiti yet, the US intends to send Marines to the country to protect its embassy, US President Joe Biden said.
"We only send American Marines to our embassy to make sure that they (diplomats-IF) are safe and everything is in order. But the idea of sending American armed forces to Haiti is not on the agenda at the moment, " Biden said during a press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Earlier it was reported that after the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moiz, the Haitian authorities asked Washington to send a group of military personnel to help protect infrastructure facilities.
American officials from the Ministries of Justice, Homeland Security, the State Department, as well as the National Security Council of the White House on Sunday went to Haiti to help in the investigation of the murder of Moiz.
