The new national security strategy aims to preserve Russia's leadership in the development of new types of weapons, and the total share of modern weapons in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation should remain below 70%, said Mikhail Popov, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved a new version of the national security strategy of the Russian Federation, the corresponding decree was published on July 3.
"In this regard, the Strategy defines the task of maintaining leadership in the development and production of new (promising) models of weapons, military and special equipment, as well as maintaining the moral, political and psychological state of military personnel at a high level, "Popov said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
According to him, victory in any war is ensured by people and means of armed struggle that are in service.
"In 2020, we fulfilled the task set by the President of the Russian Federation – we brought the equipment of the Armed Forces, other troops, military formations and bodies with modern models of weapons and military equipment to the level of 70%.
