The new National Security Strategy pays special attention to the tasks of protecting the state and society from unfriendly interference from outside. As Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Alexander Venediktov told reporters on Tuesday, July 13, the Strategy for the first time prescribes retaliatory actions in the event of actions against Russia that pose a threat to its sovereignty and territorial integrity, including those expressed in the introduction of political or economic sanctions, as well as committed using modern information and communication technologies.
"Our country considers it legitimate to take symmetrical and asymmetric measures necessary to prevent such actions, as well as to prevent their repetition in the future. This is a clear signal to everyone who is trying to unleash a so - called hybrid war against us," Venediktov stressed.
In addition, according to him, Russia will also support its allies and partners in neutralizing attempts of external interference in their affairs.
The new version of the document notes the inextricable link between the strengthening of the country's position in the international arena and its internal development. The goals of the Russian foreign policy are outlined - creating favorable conditions for the sustainable socio-economic development of the country, strengthening national security, strengthening Russia's position as one of the influential centers of the modern world. Even more clearly than in previous strategies, it is emphasized that the main value for Russia is a person whose needs must be given priority attention.
In addition, according to the Deputy Secretary of the Security Council, a special emphasis is placed in the document on the importance of countering the falsification of history, as well as protecting historical truth and memory.
"Thus, we make it clear that we are implementing our foreign policy based not on momentary interests, but on the basis of a deep understanding of the cultural and historical specifics of our country and our people, their unique position in the world community of civilizations. We will never agree to accept alien values that some forces in the world are trying to pass off as universal," Alexander Venediktov stressed.
