Brussels. July 11. INTERFAX-The Afghan authorities have installed a missile defense system at the Kabul airport against the background of the ongoing battles of government forces in the country against the Taliban movement (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation), Western media report with reference to the Afghan Interior Ministry.
"The missile defense system began operating from 2: 00 on Sunday local time (00: 00 Moscow time)," the media quotes excerpts from the statement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In recent months, simultaneously with the withdrawal of US military contingents and their allies from Afghanistan, the Taliban have intensified hostilities against Afghan forces, capturing more and more areas of the country, including in the north near the border with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. In some cases, the Taliban militants came close to the administrative centers of a number of provinces of Afghanistan.
On Friday, one of the leaders of the political office of the Taliban movement in Qatar, the head of the delegation in Moscow, Shahabuddin Delawar, said that the Taliban agreement with the United States did not contain a clause on the obligations of the movement not to take control of the administrative centers of Afghanistan.
