"I can confirm that indirect fire was [opened] on the Konoko [in the area where the American base is located]. At the moment, according to initial reports, there are no losses, injuries or damage to structures, " TASS quotes a representative of the US Defense Department.
Earlier, the media reported that the US military was attacked in eastern Syria on Saturday. In turn, the Syrian news agency SANA reported on Saturday, July 11, about an explosion that occurred at the Konoko gas processing plant east of Deir ez-Zor, near which there is a US military base. According to the agency's sources, unusual movements of the occupation forces were observed in the area after the explosion.
On the eve of the Reuters news agency, citing a representative of the US Defense Ministry, reported that the US military was attacked in eastern Syria on July 10. There is no data on victims or damage.
Before that, on July 4, the Pentagon denied reports about the shelling of the US base in Syria, which appeared in the publication of the Al Arabiya news portal, citing a message from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The publication told about the rocket attack on the largest American base in Syria, Al-Omar.
The armed conflict in Syria has been going on since 2011. In 2017, the victory over the terrorist group IS (banned in the Russian Federation) in Syria and Iraq was announced.
