MOSCOW, July 8-RIA Novosti. The delegation of the Taliban movement * met with the special representative of the President of Russia for Afghanistan, director of the second Department of Asia of the Foreign Ministry Zamir Kabulov, according to a statement by the political secretary of the movement, which was made available to RIA Novosti.
"At the meeting, the delegation of the Islamic Emirate (the self — name of the Taliban management system* - Ed.) repeated its position that the Afghan land will not be used against anyone," the report says.
Representatives of the movement also stated that they are interested in achieving sustainable peace in Afghanistan. In addition, they assured that border crossings with neighboring countries will work normally.
The delegation's visit to Moscow will last two days. It was headed by one of the leaders of the political office of the movement in Qatar, Shahabuddin Delawar, head of the Department for Relations with Afghan citizens.
In Afghanistan, there is now a confrontation between government forces and the Taliban, who have seized significant territories in rural areas and launched an offensive on major cities. The escalation is taking place against the background of the withdrawal of American troops, which Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called recognition of the failure of the US mission in the republic.
Some Afghan soldiers are leaving for the territory of Tajikistan. Dushanbe asked the CSTO allies to help cope with the challenges from Afghanistan and strengthen the southern borders by joint efforts.
