The national security adviser to the President of Afghanistan, Hamdullah Mohib, denied information about negotiations with Russia about the supply of weapons to the country. He said this in an interview with RIA Novosti .
"Our consultations are about bringing our positions closer and having a common understanding of the threats facing both Afghanistan and the entire region," Mohib explained. According to him, we are talking about the exchange of information and the joint use of technical capabilities. "But it doesn't have to be the kind of support that everyone is thinking about," he stressed.
Afghanistan has no intentions for anyone to interfere in the situation, the adviser noted. The withdrawal of American troops from the country is an opportunity to present all the forces in the new government and at the same time join forces with the region to jointly combat any threats.
The official withdrawal of US and North Atlantic Alliance troops from the Afghan territories began on May 1. President Biden stated that the American army would completely leave Afghanistan by September 11. In his opinion, the military forces of other countries can neither create nor support a local government.
