Moscow. July 3. INTERFAX-The Russian National Security Strategy, signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, fixes the threats that may arise in the event of the deployment of American medium-and shorter-range missiles in a number of regions of the world.
"Against the background of the development of the potential of the global missile defense system, the United States is pursuing a consistent course to abandon international obligations in the field of arms control. The planned deployment of American intermediate-range and shorter-range missiles in Europe and in the Asia-Pacific region (APR) poses a threat to strategic stability and international security," the document published on Saturday on the official portal of legal information says.
The document also notes that "tension continues to escalate in conflict zones in the post-Soviet space, in the Middle East, in North Africa, in Afghanistan and on the Korean Peninsula."
