NATO activity near the Russian borders is not decreasing, the military-political situation remains tense
Moscow. June 18. INTERFAX-Modern dangers and threats require Russia to take new approaches to ensuring the country's national security and defense, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov said on Friday at a graduation ceremony for graduates of the Military Academy of the General Staff.
"The military-political situation in the world remains tense. NATO's military activity near the Russian borders is not decreasing. Armed conflicts continue, and the threat of international terrorism persists. Military force is increasingly becoming a tool for solving international problems. Modern dangers and threats to the Russian Federation require new approaches to ensuring national security, defense of the country and the construction of the Armed Forces," Gerasimov said.
According to him, "an important link in this process is the training of military personnel of the strategic level, who receive education in the leading military educational institution of the country-the Military Academy of the General Staff."
