An inventor from Moscow, Alexander Kuznetsov, created a project of weapons based on new physical principles. The development was called-a universal, inertia-free, automatic rifle complex of continuous destruction-the "SCAT"machine gun.
The new weapon operates according to a different scheme from other submachine guns and machine guns. During the shot, the energy of the powder gases is spent on accelerating the bullet along the entire length of the barrel, not counting the energy losses comparable to a three-line Mosin rifle.
Then, as the inventor told the magazine "Army Standard", a different physical principle comes into play, namely, the work of the energy pulse of the dynamic impact of the powder gases. The designer does not disclose other details because of the fear of borrowing his ideas. The author received four patents for the invention and a number of expert opinions.
At the moment, it is known that the "SCAT" machine gun will be a smooth-bore weapon of 12-caliber with a barrel diameter of 18.2-mm. In the list of possible ammunition: thermobaric, volume-detonating and gravitational action, shrapnel and even an anti-personnel bullet-mine. Effective fire will be conducted at a distance of up to 500 meters.
The innovative automatic machine "SKAT" still exists only on paper, since the development, manufacture and modernization of weapons and ammunition by private individuals without the appropriate licenses is considered a criminal offense in Russia.
