Under the auspices of the UN, the development of a comprehensive convention on combating information crime has begun. The creation of the basic document will take approximately 2.5 years. This was stated by Dmitry Bukin, Deputy Director of the Department of International Information Security of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, speaking at the 12th International IT forum with the participation of representatives of the BRICS and SCO countries.
According to him, this will be a comprehensive universal concept for combating information crime. It is being created within the framework of a special open-ended intergovernmental committee established at the initiative of Russia.
"This step demonstrates the international community's understanding of the seriousness of the threat of cybercrime and the lack of an alternative to the UN platform as a platform for developing the necessary universal international rules to combat this global threat," TASS quoted the Russian diplomat as saying.
