ST. PETERSBURG, June 15. /TASS/. No country can independently create a system capable of changing the trajectory of celestial bodies threatening the Earth. This was stated by the Director General of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin at the Global Conference on Space Exploration GLEX-2021.
"There is no technology that would allow us to change the trajectory, to prevent the danger of our Earth. These technologies must be created, and no country can implement them alone. This is a common task - the protection of our Land," Rogozin stressed.
According to the head of Roscosmos, planetary protection is one of the most important tasks for cosmonautics. "An important task is how to protect the planet from uninvited collisions with cosmic bodies that can destroy civilization," he said.
The Global Space Exploration Conference was originally scheduled to take place in St. Petersburg on June 9-11, 2020, but was postponed to 2021 due to the pandemic. The Forum is held annually in different countries. This year it takes place in St. Petersburg from June 14 to 18.
