Brussels. June 14. INTERFAX-Russia's policy is not in line with US expectations and represents a "new challenge," US President Joe Biden said at the NATO summit on Monday.
"Over the past couple of years, there has been a growing awareness that we are facing new challenges. Before us is Russia, which is not acting in accordance with what we had hoped, as well as China," he said during a conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
"I must say that previously at the G7 summit, we and a number of colleagues spoke in favor of more significant coordination than is currently available," the president said.
The day before, at a press conference following the G7, Biden said that he was going to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin to discuss "violations of international norms" and topics on which cooperation between the countries is possible. Biden also agreed with Moscow's assessment that relations between Russia and the United States are now in a deplorable state. "We do not seek a conflict with Russia," Biden assured.
