Currently, the problem of evaders from military service is not serious, the number of such cases has been declining for several years. This was announced on Tuesday, June 8, by a representative of the Main Organizational and Mobilization Department of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
"Currently, the main problem is to identify conscripts with health problems that do not allow them to serve. At the same time, the level of evaders has been steadily falling for several years. Thanks to modern legislation, it is much easier for citizens to pass military service on conscription than to avoid it under a far-fetched pretext, " he said.
In addition, the interlocutor of the publication said that there is an annual increase in those who want to replace military service by conscription for military service under a contract. In this case, the citizen instead of serving for two years, but already in the status of a contract soldier, which means that he has a much higher salary and a large package of social benefits, he added.
Earlier, on May 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law according to which conscripts who have non-health-related grounds for postponing or exempting from conscription for military service are allowed not to undergo a mandatory medical examination.
In early May, the head of state signed a law on strengthening control over the exemption from conscription for health reasons and the rules of medical examination before conscription.
According to the document, the presence of grounds for deferrals from conscription for military service due to health problems and their reliability is checked by the regional draft commission in accordance with the procedure established by the regulations on military medical expertise. If violations are detected, a follow-up medical examination will be required.
On April 29, the State Duma proposed to oblige conscripts to report to the military enlistment office themselves-without a summons. If the young people do not show up, they will be fined.
At the end of March, the Russian leader signed a decree on spring conscription for military service from April 1 to July 15 this year. It was reported that 134,650 people are subject to the spring draft.
