Baku. May 31. INTERFAX-AZERBAIJAN-Official Baku supports the calls of the international community for a peaceful resolution of the tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border and for the delimitation and demarcation of the border, said Leyla Abdullayeva, head of the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
"We have repeatedly stated that we support the settlement of border tensions through negotiations, and also support the calls of the international community for the demarcation and delimitation of the border between the two countries. As you know, Azerbaijan also supported the proposal to establish a trilateral commission on the delimitation and demarcation of the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia," Abdullayeva said in a statement.
At the same time, she noted that during the demarcation and delimitation of the border, it is necessary to respect the territorial integrity of both countries.
"Only on the basis of strict compliance with international law of sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of borders can we normalize interstate relations, begin the demarcation and delimitation of the border and, finally, lay a solid foundation for peaceful coexistence," she stressed.
Commenting on the statement of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, Abdullayeva recalled that Azerbaijan detained (May 27 - IF) six Armenian servicemen during their provocations aimed at mining the supply routes of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. "While the anti-personnel mines planted by Armenia in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan pose a daily threat to people's lives, Armenia's refusal to provide information on the location of mines, as well as attempts to install new mines in this territory, is not within any framework. Thus, before proposing an exchange of prisoners of war based on the principle of "all for all", the co - chairs should at least pay attention to the reasons for the detention of these Armenian soldiers and call on provocateurs to refrain from such activities," Abdullayeva stressed.
