SEVASTOPOL, May 31. /TASS/. The Ministry of Defense will form an office for working with artificial intelligence with its own budget by December 2021. This was announced on Monday by Mikhail Osyko, a member of the Military-Industrial Commission under the Government of the Russian Federation.
"I can say that the Ministry of Defense has decided to create a department for artificial intelligence. < ... > All these activities should be completed by December 1 of this year. Accordingly, from next year, the Ministry of Defense will start operating a customer on the subject of artificial intelligence, "Osyko said during the session "Artificial Intelligence", which is held as part of the International Industrial Forum in Sevastopol.
He specified that the department will have its own budget. Its functions and tasks will be similar to those already carried out by another department of the Ministry - advanced interspecific research.
"I think that if we manage to go in, implement and implement the results, it will be a serious breakthrough, which is a sin not to use. The Ministry of Defense will be a good driver in this process, especially from the point of view of practical application - what is currently lacking," the expert added.
