The VII Army International Games are scheduled to be held in more than a dozen countries this year. This was stated in an interview with the official newspaper of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation "Red Star" by the head of the Main Department of Combat Training of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Colonel-General Ivan Buvaltsev. According to him, representatives of 12 states at once expressed their readiness to organize competitions in compliance with measures to prevent the spread of a new coronavirus infection. At the same time, for the first time, Algeria, Vietnam, Qatar and Serbia will act as co-organizers of the Games. According to General Buvaltsev, a record number of participants - 269 teams from 41 countries-have already entered the upcoming competitions. For the first time, Burkina Faso, Indonesia, Peru and Saudi Arabia will participate.
The Russian military is closely preparing for performances in the international arena. "The principle of competition remains an essential condition for the training of troops in the summer training period, which is most widely implemented during the International Army Games," Ivan Buvaltsev said. "I would like to note that in total, more than 459 thousand servicemen were involved in the qualifying competitions of the Army International Games - 2021."
In June, the fourth stage of the ArMI-2021 will be completed, according to the results of which teams will be selected to participate in 33 competitions of the international stage of the competition. They will be held in the period from August 22 to September 4 this year.
At the same time, one of the international competitions - the competition of mountain units in winter conditions "Sayan March" - was held in April. It was won by the team of the Russian Federation.
General Buvaltsev also said that in the coming days, the third and final international planning conference on the preparation and holding of the games will be held at the Patriot Convention and Exhibition Center in the Moscow region, immediately after which a reconnaissance of the competition venues on the territory of the Russian Federation will take place. Then it is planned to hold a training and methodological meeting with the chief judges of the competitions and officials of the organizing committees of the competitions and the staff of the ARMI-2021.
