According to the senator, the United States is currently actively arming itself, since " it is no longer able to ensure its hegemony with financial, economic, information and diplomatic means." As Pushkov noted, in the conditions of "shrinking", official Washington relies on military force, which is " the main danger coming from the falling hegemon."
Earlier, on April 9, US President Joe Biden presented to Congress a detailed draft of the country's budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2022. The proposed spending for the Pentagon was $715 billion. In general, the American leader asked Congress for about $753 billion for defense needs. (+ $12.5 billion compared to the previous year).
On May 17, Newsweek reported that the United States over the past 10 years has created a secret army of many thousands, whose members perform various tasks of the Pentagon both inside the state and outside it. Journalists estimated the number of the secret network at least 60 thousand people. It is noted that more than $900 million is spent annually on the maintenance of the secret army.
On May 19, it became known that the US Army Corps of Engineers plans to study the possibilities of potential contractors for the implementation of a project to build military facilities in 20 countries of the Middle East and Central Asia. The initiative is estimated at $240 million. The duration of the contract with the contractors is expected to be five years. The Pentagon has designated such regions as Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan as territories for the construction of new facilities.
