Baku. May 29. INTERFAX-AZERBAIJAN-Official Baku supports Russia's proposal to establish a trilateral commission on the delimitation and demarcation of the border with Armenia, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov said.
This opinion was expressed by Asadov on May 28 in Minsk at a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS countries. Excerpts from the Prime Minister's speech are published on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan.
At the meeting, Asadov noted that after gaining independence, Azerbaijan has carried out delimitation and demarcation with neighboring states - with Russia, Iran and Georgia in accordance with international legal norms. "It was impossible to delimit and demarcate the border with Armenia due to the fact that the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan was occupied by the Armenian armed forces. Now, after the end of the hostilities, Azerbaijan has started to establish its border infrastructure and is fully ready and will resolve the issue of drawing border lines with Armenia in a constructive manner, " the Prime Minister said.
According to him, in this regard, Azerbaijan supported the proposal of the Russian side to create a corresponding trilateral commission on the delimitation and demarcation of the border with Armenia. He stressed that the definition of border lines is a technical process that should have a serious international legal basis.
