Yerevan. May 29. Russian representatives have arrived in the village of Kut in the Gegharkunik region of Armenia on the border with Azerbaijan, head of the enlarged Geghamasar community Hakob Avetyan said.
"Representatives of Russia with flags are in the community of Kut. Probably, their visit is connected with the expected start of the process of demarcation and delimitation of the border with Azerbaijan, " Avetyan told the Armenian media.
Information from other sources, including official ones, has not yet been received.
Earlier on Saturday, acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Armenia is ready to withdraw its troops from the border with Azerbaijan at any time and expects the withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from the territory of Armenia in order to deploy international observers and start the process of demarcation and delimitation of the border.
"We are ready to start withdrawing troops at any time, and we are waiting for the OSCE Minsk Group mediators to reach an agreement with Azerbaijan and simultaneously begin withdrawing troops from Sotk (Gegharkunik region in eastern Armenia - IF) to Khoznavar (Syunik region in southern Armenia - IF), "Pashinyan said at a meeting with the activists of the Civil Contract party he leads on Saturday.
According to him, Armenia is ready, under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group, to begin work on the refinement of border points with Azerbaijan and restore the negotiation process on the Karabakh settlement.
"There is a possibility of de-escalation of the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. I thank our international partners for their reaction, and I thank Russia, the OSCE Minsk Group countries, France, the United States, the European Parliament, India, and Canada. The statement and the logic of the steps in the statement of the OSCE Minsk Group is acceptable to us, they called for measures to reduce tension on the border, suggested that the parties withdraw their troops, with their assistance, carry out work on the demarcation and delimitation of the border, " Pashinyan said.
He noted that Armenia and Azerbaijan should withdraw their troops from the border.
"The sides are withdrawing their troops and international representatives are stationed here under the international auspices - they can be Russian peacekeepers, observers of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairmanship, and both options. For us, all options are acceptable. The main thing is that we are following the path of de-escalation, " Pashinyan said.
