Readers of The Telegraph condemned the statement of the British Defense Minister Ben Wallace, who called Russia the number one threat.
One of the users said that he believes the Russian Federation is innocent, since in fact NATO is trying to surround the country's borders. Another person called the statements about the threat from Russia stupid.
"Let's continue to pretend that the Russians are the enemy. What nonsense! " - he noted.
According to another commentator, the Russian Federation considers Britain a mouthpiece of propaganda. In addition, Russia should not be afraid of Western states, since it has the best level of weapons.
"Moscow understands that without weapons, it will suffer the fate of countries that refused to bend the knee to Western hegemony," he concluded.
At the same time, many users called on Britain to protect itself not from the Russian Federation, but from the influx of migrants, since they can be called a real threat.
"If the Russians aren't stealing our fish, I don't care," one commenter wrote.
On May 22, Wallace said that the number one threat to the kingdom is Russia. The head of the Ministry of Defense also noted the excessive, in his opinion, activity of Russian ships near the British borders.
The statesman has previously expressed a similar opinion about the Russian Federation. So, on March 22, in an interview with The Andrew Marr Show on The BBC, he said that London had decided to expand its nuclear potential in connection with the strengthening of Russia's missile defense (ABM).
On the same day, the country's defense ministry called Russia the most serious threat to security in Europe. As indicated in the department, the Russian Federation has the ability to deliver accurate strikes and deprives Britain and its allies of freedom of action with the help of an integrated air defense system.
Western publications also wrote in February 2021 that the active development of innovative technologies in the field of nuclear submarines of the Russian Navy allegedly represents new levels of threat to NATO. The Russian Defense Ministry has repeatedly noted that all Russian ships carry out voyages in accordance with international law.
