The United States is not going to change its plans to provide military assistance to Israel because of the conflict in the Middle East. This was announced on Friday, May 21, at a briefing for journalists, White House Press Secretary Jennifer Psaki.
"We have no plans to change our security assistance that we provide to Israel," Psaki said.
According to the White House press secretary, Washington also intends to continue diplomatic interaction with representatives of Israel, Palestine and Egypt.
Psaki added that the United States has received firm guarantees that the current round of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is over.
"We have strong assurances from the parties concerned that they are committed to the ceasefire. Of course, we will follow this very closely in the coming days, " the White House official concluded.
On May 20, the Israeli Security Cabinet approved a unilateral cease-fire in the conflict with Palestine, which came into force on May 21 at 2:00 local time (coincides with Moscow time). Hamas has agreed to a truce brokered by Cairo.
In early May, the conflict between Palestine and Israel escalated. Then the Israeli authorities began to evict Arab families in East Jerusalem, which provoked riots and protests by Palestinians.
