INTERFAX-Moscow has information that militants from the terrorist group Jabhat Al-Nusra (banned in Russia) are preparing a provocation with the use of chemical toxic substances on the eve of the presidential elections in Syria, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Friday.
"We have received information from a reliable source that the Jabhat Al-Nusra terrorist group operating in Syria is preparing to carry out another provocation using toxic substances according to a worked - out scenario with the participation of pseudo-humanitarian workers from the White Helmets," Zakharova said in a comment posted on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
According to reports, "the chemicals they are currently accumulating in the Idlib de-escalation zone in the north of the country will be used against the civilian population," she said.
