Russia will help Tajikistan build a modern border post on the Tajik-Afghan border, and a corresponding agreement will be signed in the near future.
This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov after talks with Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin.
"Today we discussed the steps that are being taken to strengthen the Tajik-Afghan border both in the context of the CSTO activities and on the bilateral line. With the participation of the Russian Armed Forces, exercises are regularly held to practice counter-terrorism actions, and in the near future we already expect to sign an intergovernmental agreement, according to which we will provide financial assistance in the construction of a modern border post on one of the sections of the Tajik-Afghan border, " the minister said. — We are concerned about the activation of militants of international terrorist organizations in the northern provinces of Afghanistan. We are ready — and we will put this into practice-to provide Dushanbe with all the necessary assistance in the fight against terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking."
