Beijing, May 16. INTERFAX-The withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan does not contribute to the normalization of the situation and reconciliation in this country, it may affect the stability in the region, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said.
"The hasty withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan has had a serious impact on the internal reconciliation process in that country and has had a negative impact on regional stability," the diplomat said in a telephone conversation with his Pakistani counterpart, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, as reported on the website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
In such circumstances, Wang Yi believes that this problem requires increased attention from the UN, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the neighboring countries of Afghanistan.
He praised the efforts of the Pakistani side to achieve peace in Afghanistan, and said that China supports the Arab parties to conclude political agreements acceptable to each other, the implementation of which will depend on them, "jointly seek a path of development that corresponds to the national conditions of Afghanistan."
The Chinese minister said that " in the current situation, China and Pakistan should continue to strengthen strategic coordination, have a more positive impact on the Afghan peace process, and jointly maintain peace and stability in the region."
