Jerusalem. May 11. INTERFAX-The leader of the Palestinian movement Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, said that his fighters managed to defeat Israel by conducting rocket attacks on cities.
"We have achieved victory in the struggle for Jerusalem," he was quoted as saying by Israeli media.
According to Haniyeh, a "new balance of power"has now been established between Hamas and Israel.
In addition, according to Western media, Haniyeh assured that if Israel goes to the escalation of the conflict, it is " ready for it."
Israel launched strikes on Gaza earlier this week in response to rocket attacks on Israeli cities from there.
On Tuesday evening, Hamas said it had launched 130 rockets towards Tel Aviv. Some of them exploded on the territory of settlements in the central part of Israel. There were reports of injuries and one fatality.
