Jerusalem. May 10. INTERFAX-The Israeli Defense Forces command said it is considering a ground operation against the militants of the Palestinian movement Hamas, the Jerusalem Post reports.
The newspaper notes that this statement was made after the Palestinians, according to the Israeli side, launched more than 150 rockets at Jerusalem and southern Israel.
"The IDF has warned that it is considering all possible responses, including a ground operation," the newspaper writes.
The attacks took place during the Israeli celebration of Jerusalem Day. It is proclaimed in honor of the transition to Israeli control of the eastern part of Jerusalem after the Six-Day War.
In response to Monday's shelling, the Israeli Air Force launched a series of strikes on the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. The Israeli side claims the death of eight militants as a result of these operations.
