SOFIA, May 10. /TASS/. More than 400 high-readiness NATO Joint Forces personnel, along with the necessary combat and support equipment, will be deployed from Turkey and Albania to Romania via Bulgaria during Monday and Tuesday to participate in the Steadfast Defender - 21 exercise. According to the Bulgarian Defense Ministry, " military units in transit will be escorted by the military police."
The North Atlantic Alliance will hold from May 20 to June 22 military exercises Steadfast Defender 21 with the simultaneous participation of up to 9 thousand military personnel on the southern flank of the alliance - in Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria and Portugal - with the training of the transfer of reinforcements from the United States.
The maneuvers will take place in three stages: in the first, the naval part in the Atlantic Ocean, up to 20 ships and submarines, 40 aircraft and 5,000 military personnel will take part. The second part - command and staff exercises in Hungary-will be attended by up to 3 thousand military personnel. The third, field part of the maneuvers will take place in Romania and Bulgaria with the participation of 4 thousand military and 6 thousand units of equipment. In total, at the peak of the maneuvers, up to 9 thousand people will take part in them at the same time.
