Moscow. May 6. INTERFAX-The International Charter on Space and Major Disasters has been activated in order to monitor floods in the Irkutsk Region, Roscosmos reported.
"In connection with the development of the flood situation in the Irkutsk region, the Charter was activated. As of May 6, foreign data of about 4.3 million square kilometers (149 routes) were transferred to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations," the report says.
It is noted that the monitoring of these areas of flooding is also carried out by Russian satellites.
The report notes that at the request of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations over the past week, emergency situations were monitored on the territory of the country, in particular, floods in Bashkiria, the Trans-Baikal Territory, the Samara Region, the Perm Region, the Kurgan Region, the Volgograd Region, the Irkutsk Region, the Amur Region, the Khabarovsk Territory, the Sakha Republic, the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the KhMAO and the Volga-Kama Cascade.
"In the period from April 29 to May 6, 2021, the Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Management of the Russian Federation received satellite imagery data in the amount of 851 thousand square kilometers, and about 56 thousand square kilometers were transferred to the International Charter on Space and Major Disasters," the state corporation reported.
In early April, the Zalarinka River burst its banks in the Irkutsk Region, resulting in three residential buildings and 24 homestead plots, as well as the federal highway "Siberia". 64 residents of the village, including 18 children, live in the flooded area.
