INTERFAX / BNS - The Defender Europe exercise began on Wednesday evening at the Central Training Ground of the Estonian Defense Forces, with live firing of multiple launch rocket systems, and the landing of American paratroopers at the Nurmsi airfield on Thursday evening, the press service of the General Staff of the Estonian Defense Forces told BNS.
Hundreds of paratroopers will take part in the largest landing in the history of Estonia, equipment and heavy equipment will be dropped from planes, and the operation itself can take two or three hours.
Defender Europe is the largest series of US Army exercises in Europe in the last 25 years. The maneuvers cover 16 countries. In Estonia, the defense of the country in a crisis will be practiced in the framework of the "Swift Response" exercise.
