Washington. May 6. INTERFAX-The US military presence in Syria is illegal, the Russian Embassy in Washington reminded.
"We would like to remind you that the US military presence in Syria is primarily illegal," the embassy said in a statement posted on the social network.
It also emphasizes that " the United States has no right to criticize the legitimate actions of the Russian Armed Forces, which are in Syria at the invitation of the government of the country."
The message was a response to claims that the actions of the Russian military in the north-east of Syria violate the deconflicting mechanism. They are contained in a report released Tuesday by acting Pentagon Inspector General Sean O'Donnell, which covers the period from January 1 to March 31 this year.
