Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba announced his intention to talk with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken about the supply of American-made weapons to Kiev, including air defense systems and anti-sniper technologies. He said this in an interview with CNN, published on Wednesday, May 5.
The article clarifies that the representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry raises the issue of military support from the United States in connection with the growing tension between Russia and Ukraine.
"I want to make it clear that we are talking not only about obtaining weapons from the United States, but also about their direct acquisition on the territory of the country. We want this partnership to work in both directions, " the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.
Kuleba pointed to one of the main priorities of Ukrainian interests, the implementation of which can contribute to the United States — the integration of the country into the West, including NATO. According to him, Kiev has the temporary resources to resolve the conflict in order to join NATO, but at the same time it needs to have a clear, step-by-step plan for appropriate accession, which can be facilitated by the United States.
He also expressed a desire for the United States to treat Ukraine as the "eastern border of democracy" in Central Europe and the Black Sea.
On the same day, May 6, it became known about the arrival of the United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Ukraine.
On Monday, May 3, the head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, Denis Pushilin, said that the trip of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to Kiev does not bode well.
