It is also necessary to combat the use of terrorism for political purposes
Moscow. April 28. INTERFAX - The CSTO countries intend to strengthen the fight against terrorism in Afghanistan and prevent the activation of recruiters on the southern borders of the participating countries, Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council Rashid Nurgaliyev said.
"We have planned a number of additional measures to prevent attempts to transfer the activity of international terrorist organizations to the southern borders of the CSTO, "Nurgaliyev said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
He noted that according to the CSTO Security Council secretaries, it is also necessary to pay attention to "countering the desire of a number of states to use terrorist and extremist organizations as tools to achieve their own political goals."
"We will act as a united front to prevent terrorist organizations from using international platforms to promote their ideology," the Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council stressed.
According to him, the terrorist organizations operating in Afghanistan continue to cause concern. At the same time, the activities of recruiters go beyond the borders of the country.
"In the context of the pandemic, their reorientation to remote recruitment of adherents of radical ideology is recorded. The terrorists are also looking for new supporters among young people in Muslim educational institutions. Their emissaries often resort to intimidating recruits or attract them with promises of significant remuneration, " Nurgaliyev said.
As reported by Interfax, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev arrived in Dushanbe on Wednesday, where he has meetings with the secretaries of the Security Councils of the CSTO countries.
