As early as this weekend, the annual US and NATO amphibious exercises called Swift Response-the largest in the last 25 years - will begin in the Baltic States. As part of these maneuvers, an amphibious operation is planned in Estonia. Units of the Estonian Defense Forces are also participating in an amphibious operation in Nurmsi on the night of May 6. The Estonian paratroopers will have two tasks in this exercise.
"First of all, they will have to support the exercises by simulating a counterattack. This will mostly be handled by the Estonian Defence Union. Secondly, we will be integrating our own paratroopers into this operation. They will perform their tasks. They will conduct special operations or coordinate fire actions, " said Lieutenant Colonel Erki Roosnurm, an employee of the General Staff of the Estonian Armed Forces.
