At the site of the future exhibition of military products World Defense Show in Saudi Arabia, the second stage of construction of an 800 thousand square meter site near Riyadh has officially begun, where the world's first take-off and landing strip, specially built for the defense event, will be presented.
This is reported by the Al-Arabiya TV channel.
The International Military Salon, which is scheduled for March 6-9, 2022 in Riyadh, is designed to " strengthen Saudi Arabia's position at the center of the global defense industry and deepen its relations with current and potential partners in the industry," the kingdom's General Directorate for Military Industry (GAMI) said in a statement.
The exhibition aims to contribute to the largest Arab monarchy's plans to localize 50 percent of its military spending by 2030, " especially by promoting further cooperation with governments and defense manufacturers around the world."
The grand event will be attended by more than 800 defense companies, including 100 local firms, as well as a number of high-ranking military delegations and officials from foreign countries.
The World Defense Show, according to the organizers, will become "a global platform for ensuring the interoperability of defense in five areas: land, sea, air, space and security." The event is scheduled to be held every two years in the Saudi capital.
