MOSCOW, April 21. /TASS/. The General Meeting of the Russian Academy of Sciences plans to once again take the initiative to create a space council under the President of the Russian Federation. This was stated by the President of the Academy Alexander Sergeev at the general meeting of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Commenting on the speech of the Scientific director of the Space Research Institute (ICI) Lev Zeleny of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in which he proposed to come up with such an initiative, Sergeyev recalled that in previous years this idea had already been expressed by representatives of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Roscosmos.
"About the Space Council under the President of the Russian Federation. <...> This is our proposal - to once again address <...><...> on behalf of the general meeting [of the Russian Academy of Sciences]. It seems to me that it is possible to formulate <...> such a proposal with a request to discuss it, " Sergeyev said.
The General Meeting of RAS members was held on April 20-21 in a hybrid format. On Tuesday, it was opened by the report of the head of the Academy on the most important scientific achievements of scientists in 2020, as well as the priority areas of the RAS for the implementation of the state scientific and technical policy. On this day, representatives of the regional branches of the Academy also spoke. On Wednesday, April 21, the Russian Academy of Sciences held a scientific session dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's space flight. Roscosmos Director General Dmitry Rogozin, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeev, and a number of scientists and cosmonauts made presentations.
