Stoltenberg believes that peace in Afghanistan can only be ensured by the Afghans themselves
Brussels. April 15. INTERFAX-NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has admitted that the peace process in Afghanistan is not guaranteed to succeed.
"In our discussions with Afghanistan, there is support for the peace process. This is a fragile, difficult process. There is no guarantee that it will succeed. But this is something that NATO allies will pay special attention to," the head of the North Atlantic Alliance said at a press conference on Wednesday evening in Brussels after a video broadcast by the foreign and defense ministers of the organization countries, at which the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan was announced after the United States.
Stoltenberg said that NATO countries welcome the upcoming conference on Afghanistan in Istanbul. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu informed the allies about the preparations for the conference.
