Moscow. April 14. INTERFAX-Navigation along the Northern Sea Route may become year-round in the coming years, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"In the very near future, in the coming years, the movement along the Northern Sea Route may become year-round," he said on Wednesday at a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Geographical Society in a video link.
Putin said that he discussed this topic on Tuesday by phone with his Finnish counterpart Sauli Niinisto.
He noted that he also discussed with Niinisto the topic of Russia's upcoming chairmanship of the Arctic Council in 2021-2023.
