SEVASTOPOL, 14 Apr-RIA Novosti. Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said that additional measures are needed to guarantee the protection of the national interests of the Russian Federation in Crimea and the inhabitants of the peninsula against the background of growing tensions around this region due to the actions of the United States, NATO and Ukraine.
Speaking in Sevastopol on Wednesday at a meeting on ensuring national security in Crimea, Patrushev noted that the United States and its allies are pushing Ukraine to provocations against Crimea, NATO has increased its activity in the immediate vicinity of the Russian borders in the Black Sea region, and on the peninsula there are still risks of manifestations of terrorism and extremism supported from abroad.
