Washington. April 13. INTERFAX-The US military command will transfer to Germany, among other things, intelligence officers, gunners, specialists in cyber operations and electronic warfare (EW), said on Tuesday the representative of the US contingents in Europe and Africa, Colonel Joe Scrocca.

"We are talking about field artillery, air defense and missile defense, intelligence, operations in cyberspace, electronic warfare, space, aviation, and the brigade support group," the Pentagon cites data provided by Skrocka on the specialization of additional military personnel being transferred to Germany.

For his part, the head of the European Command of the US Armed Forces, General Tod Walters, explained that the military will be sent to the city of Wiesbaden.

Earlier on Tuesday, the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, said that the United States decided to deploy another 500 troops in Germany, as they want to support NATO; this step has nothing to do with Russia's actions.

"Let me assure you that this is a signal for NATO. The message is that we fully support NATO. More importantly, we value our relationship with our partner here in Germany, " Austin said when asked whether the US decision to deploy additional troops in Germany could be seen as a signal to Russia amid the worsening situation in eastern Ukraine.

According to Austin, the build-up of US forces in Germany is " additional opportunities."

During a press conference with German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, Osin announced the deployment of an additional 500 American troops in Germany.

In February, the representative of the federal government, Steffen Seibert, said that Germany positively perceived the statement of US President Joe Biden about reviewing the decision of the previous administration to withdraw part of its military contingent from Germany.

"The government welcomes this announcement, and we will closely monitor the further course of events," Seibert said.

On June 15, 2020, former US President Donald Trump announced that he had decided to reduce the US military contingent in Germany. He explained that he intends to leave 25 thousand soldiers in Germany.
