Washington. April 12. INTERFAX-Canada has canceled permits for the export of military products and technologies to Turkey, because they were used by Azerbaijan in the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, Canadian Foreign Minister Mark Garneau said.
"After this analysis, which found convincing evidence that Canadian technologies exported to Turkey were used in Nagorno - Karabakh, today I announce the cancellation of permits that were suspended in the fall of 2020," Garneau said in a statement posted on the Foreign Ministry's website.
Canada took the first steps in this direction last fall. At that time, the Government of Canada suspended permits for the export of military products and technologies to Turkey, while an investigation was underway into whether Azerbaijan actually used Canadian technologies in the military conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. The investigation concluded that this was the case.
