MOSCOW, April 12. /TASS/. JSC " MIC "NPO Mashinostroeniya" (part of JSC "Corporation" Tactical Missile Weapons") Since last year, it has been developing a mini-satellite for radar. This was announced by the chief designer of the enterprise in the direction of spacecraft Alexey Rabochy.
"Since last year, at the expense of the innovation fund of our company, we have started the development of a mini-class spacecraft with a radar based on AFAR (active phased array antenna-approx. TASS), " the Worker said in an interview with the corporate publication of the enterprise "Tribune of the Military-Industrial Complex".
According to the chief designer, the weight and size characteristics will allow for the output of eight such devices at a time. The satellite will be focused on the civilian segment and will be able to capture large areas of the earth's surface. "At the output, it gives images with a lower resolution compared to the Condor-FKA-M spacecraft, but sufficient to perform tasks in the civilian segment of the economy," he explained.
The worker also expressed the opinion that such devices will be able to integrate into the Sphere program.
"To date, the appearance of the spacecraft has been formed, the main radio engineering calculations and strength calculations have been performed, key ideological and technical documents and draft design documentation for components and assemblies are being developed, and a model of a receiving and transmitting module with an AFAR emitter has been created and tested," the designer said.
Also in 2020, work began on the possibility of providing monitoring of the Northern Sea Route in virtually continuous mode.
