Russia intends to develop a super-heavy rocket with a payload capacity of 200 tons. It will be used for flights to Mars and the Moon. This was announced on April 5 by the head of the flight of the Russian segment of the International Space Station (ISS), Vladimir Solovyov.
"Some initial draft designs are being created at the stage of technical proposals for super-heavy — class launch vehicles in two directions — over 100 tons, and even up to 200 tons," Solovyov said during the international symposium "Man in Space".
Earlier, on March 30, the head of the state corporation "Roscosmos" Dmitry Rogozin said that the organization is able to send 45 medium and heavy class rockets into space every year.
Rogozin also pointed out that Roscosmos intends to once again become one of the first in the number of launches. At the same time, he explained that the missiles "do not fly empty", so there may be more launches than now, if Russian enterprises receive more orders for the payload.
In February 2021, it was reported that the Energia Corporation was considering sending a manned mission to the Moon with four launches of Angara-A5B launch vehicles.
Angara is a family of Russian environmentally friendly launch vehicles of various classes. It includes light carriers "Angara-1.2", heavy - "Angara-A5" and upgraded "Angara-A5M", increased load capacity - "Angara-A5B".
