According to the SEMI industry association, which unites manufacturers of semiconductor products and related equipment and materials, the global market for semiconductor materials in 2020 grew by 4.9% compared to 2019 and reached a record value of $ 55.3 billion.
The previous record of $ 52.9 billion was set in 2018.
According to SEMI, in 2020, revenue from the production of materials for the manufacture of crystals and cases amounted to $ 34.9 billion and $ 20.4 billion, respectively, which is 6.5% and 2.3% more than in 2019.
Taiwan remains the largest regional market for semiconductor materials for the 11th consecutive year. In 2020, $ 12.4 billion was spent on semiconductor materials here. This is not surprising when you remember that Taiwan is a place of concentration of semiconductor manufacturing. At the same time, thanks to the active capacity building, mainland China came in second place, pushing South Korea aside. The markets in North America and Europe experienced a decline last year.
