Israel and Slovakia have completed negotiations on the sale of a large batch of radars. Yesterday, March 25, the press service of the Israeli company IAI announced the signing of a contract for 17 radars with a total cost of €148 million.
"The flagship MMR radar, produced by ELTA systems (a subsidiary of IAI), will provide the Slovak Defense Ministry with a full assessment of the situation in the air. The radar detects aerial threats, classifies them, calculates the threat level, and provides important data that allows systems to simultaneously neutralize multiple targets. In addition, these radars are compatible with NATO systems, " the IAI press service said.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Slovakia stated that it intends to purchase long-range, medium-range and short-range radars. At the same time, the IAI press service mentioned only the ELM-2084 MMR systems. This multi-purpose radar, operating in the S-band, is part of the Spider, Iron Dome and David's Sling air defense systems. In addition, the contract includes " technology transfer and industrial cooperation».
The IAI points out that the ELM-2084 MMR radars are able to track artillery mines, shells and missiles, as well as calculate the places where they will hit. In addition, these radars determine the coordinates of firing points, and can also control surface-to-air interceptor missiles.
